Wall Mount UV-Fluorescence Oil in Water Monitor FPM 605
|
The FPM 605 reliably detects diesel oil in water as diesel oil, jet fuel, gasoline and all other oils which contain PAH. The FPM 605 is a continuous, on-line, process or field monitor which provides the reliable measurement of low to medium ppm concentrations of dissolved or emulsified oil in water. It is used for applications which require oil monitoring in treated and untreated water streams. This could be from industrial wastewater, groundwater, process water, produced water and storm/ rain water run-off. |
Continuous monitoring of oils as PAH (Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons) is a reliable, effective, and well recognized method to improve the process management for treating, discharging and detecting oils in water. Compared to the laboratory grab sample analysis method, the technique of continuous on-line monitoring provides cost effective, remote and operator unattended measurement of poly aromatic hydrocarbons in water.

Principle of Operation
The FPM 605 UV fluorometer detects the emulsified, dissolved and dispersed poly cyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in water. Our instrument is based on the principle that poly aromatic hydrocarbons absorb light energy at one UV-wavelenght (exication) and emit light energy at some longer UV-wavelenght (emission). This process is named UV fluorescence. The fluorometer only detects hydrocarbons (and other materials) which fluoresce with the selected pair of exication and emission wavelengths. The fluorometeric detection of PAH's is a sensitive, selective and specific method, which is nearly immune to air bubbles and suspended solids that are often present in the water to be measured.
With our proprietary open cuvette flow cell, the FPM 605 does
not use a glass flow cell. The hydrocarbons are detected in a
stream of water which smoothly overflows our flow cell. The water
stream cannot contact, contaminate or foul the optical windows
which are used for the detection. No chemicals, no pretreatment
and no manual manipulation of the water sample are required to
monitor polyaromatic hydrocarbons.
